i was reading on the billboard charts and it said tony was talking about the next CD being called Ursa Minor. Am i the only person who hasn't heard anything about this before? and that we most likely wont have to wait another six years for it......
Ursa Minor is the follow up to Ursa Major, it will have songs on it like Stevie Ray Vaugn and Persephone, there up on youtube and they are great songs if you havent heard them yet. Arcana said also that its going to be released before 2009 has ended.

HAH, oh man. I seriously teared up alittle when I read that, Kam. If Persephone is on Ursa Minor, it would be one of the bigger surprises in 3eb history.
Also, the odds of it being released this year are reallllllllly unlikely. Even with half the songs recorded during the same session, releasing two albums within a few months of each other isn't that good. Considering UM did well, and a second single is coming, it'd be much more intelligent to let it ride a little longer.
However, here is the potential Minor track list compliments of wikipedia:
Alright Caroline (Old song from the 1999 demo. This ones been up and down. I wouldn't be surprised if it didnt end up making the cut after all)
Stevie Ray Vaughan (Demo leaked)
Second Born (Demo leaked.)
Lay Back (My personal favorite. Was cut all together up until the idea of a double-album came up)
In the Skin (Feared to be cut or ruined. Another pretty popular track)
Away (A demo of which was released by Star Fucker awhile back and can be found on YouTube. A fan favorite)
Eyes For You (I'm unsure if this one will be a reality either, to be honest)
Swimming (With lyrics. Supposedly they were written around the same time as the CBK lyrics. At least that's what they've said in the past)
Now I Don't Know (YES. YES YES YES YES YES. Hopefully, they can work in the Arion pieces to this song)
Standing Up For You (A video of Brad recording the drums for this was up in the media section)
Persephone (again, REALLY unlikely...)
Carnival Barker (w/ Lyrics) (hence the ending of Major, this will probably open the album)
A Shiv wrote: Persephone, as has been said by the band on several occasions, is a definite no.
Alright alright, i thought i read somewhere that Persephone was going to be on Minor, guess not. Arcana did say that minor was going to be released before the end of 2009, right?
doesn't matter what arcana says... march at the earliest, prob not til next summer though, if that.
Alright Caroline FTW.
Eyes for You and some of the others listed on there, please no. Mostly unheard, unleaked songs would be fantastic. (yes, I'm aware that won't happen... and honestly CB prob won't either) Speaking of CB, where is everyone getting this idea that it will be the first track on minor? Did a higher up actually say that? or are we all just assuming it will be the first because it would be a sweet transition to bridge the albums? Honestly, I think it would make a TERRIBLE opening track. It has final song written all over it, maybe with a hidden track after.

what do you mean I havent heard it? Ive heard the full instrumental... unless they pull a water landing on it and completely change it, it's definitely not opening track material. dont mistake what I mean by that... I think it has potential to be one of the greatest songs in 3eb history... but it just doesnt have the right feel to start off an album... deserves to be near the end like many of the great 3eb songs before it (see: last 4 tracks on ST, slow motion, another life, Dao, etc)

It IS changed. The version on UM is different than the original demo instrumental without a doubt. Plus: It'll have lyrics. It'll be the opening track, and i really don't see how it's a bad choice. It's a song that starts out slow, builds, and explodes. PERFECT way to break open a new album. Really pushes the idea of a double album too. Fuck forbid they attempt to connect the two with something kinda-sorta clever.
CB -> SUFY -> ITS -> EFY
Perhaps an even MORE rocking, kick-in-your-skull intro than UM's?

Have you HEARD the old demo? it's the exact same song... just a random 1:23 section of it... in studio quality. It hasn't changed. "without a doubt" lol... sorry bud but you're about to be proven wrong big time. I have proof... i edited the two versions together (the full demo and the UM clip) such that the full demo is in your left speaker only, and then when the UM clip kicks in at about 3:45, it plays only in the right speaker... as you can see... exactly the same song. Download it here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/51jnjt
And it really doesnt build THAT much.. a good deal, yes, but you want a track that's really going to kick things off right (see: LAWY, Faster, CYTM... even anything is heavier than CB). CB is an EPIC song.... you never put an epic as the first song. He can do what he wants, he's the artist. Simply stating my opinion.

Yes, the clip we got on UM is obviously nothing but a snippet from the full-length instrumental, better mastered, etc. There is nothing "without a doubt" different about it.
Yeah, except the mastered reverb completely changes the energy of the song. The upbeat part is going to have more flow and energy to it with all the effect placed into the guitar pieces. It sounds different:
WITHOUT
A
FUCKING
DOUBT.
So, eat me. :P
Also, plenty of bands put the "epic" song as the opener. go listen to APC's Thirteenth Step and tell me that that epic ass opener doesn't set the tone for the whole album.

Poe-tay-toe Poe-tah-toe. The core of the song remains unchanged, however, and that, I think, was the impression you were leaving on others saying it was changed. In this case, surely you are correct.
3eb is emerging as one of the greatest indie bands in history. Information about Minor hasn't changed a whole lot since it was announced, and even before that it wasn't much different. Persephone most likely won't be on the album since it has been floating around for a while anyways, and if Carnival Barker is the first song, it will probably be rewritten to some extant to make it seem like more of an opening.
And in terms of a release date, if the album does come out before the close of 2009 it will probably be either a live album or partially live album, as several songs were recorded at a previous concert for a "possible live album". There is no rumor of a 6th album yet, and Major was released with no live tracks on it. If Ursa Minor is pushed back into 2010, it probably will be released in mid- to late-January to "kick-off" the new year or in Mid-March during Spring Break, as several of 3eb's fans are indeed college students. I doubt it will be released in February because I don't see why it might be released then, other than to simply have a random release date.
On top of all that, I bet the band already knows when they're going to release the album, what tracks will be on it, etc. I think they're keeping it all secret and then going to surprise us with a really phenomenal album
