Finally, a Carnival Barker thread.
A few points:
1- Glad I got tp hear the song at all.
2-It has been hyped as a monstrous and epic 3eb song
3-Apparently the title has to do with the vocal delivery, which makes the song intriguing.
4-Was said recently to be on Major with lyrics
5- We are so stoked to potentially hear the song as it was intended
6-Was said is on major with no lyrics
This song is not done and is not a great instrumental IMO. I like certain moments but the power chord choruses with no vocals sound empty. The second verse sounds empty as well.
What is going on Mr. 3eb? We would like to know. We only want to hear this great song that you guys have told us about and promised us.
The only thing that could be going on here is that 3eb is still under contract for the Symphony of Decay EP as they never released it. Perhaps releasing it with lyrics outright infringes on that deal, since 3eb got roughly a half million for the EP. So, maybe they are listing it as an instrumental for those reasons?
I'd really like to have the band say somthing in their own forum about this.

RE: CARNIVAL BARKER
Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 2:52 PM by Dankesquestion. How could they have got half a million dollars for something that wasn't released?
RE: CARNIVAL BARKER
Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 3:08 PM by CaPtaINs_oF_Em0they got an advance. check TVCY or the internets. i "think" that so long as the delivered the EP (which they did and the label laughed) then that fullfilled the contract. in the labels mind they were not going to make any money on it and the half million was already spent. the half million also was right when napster butt raped the cd business, so it wasnt a big deal at the time.

Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 3:15 PM by topwingTo me, Carnival Barker is perfect the way it is. As intrigued as I am to hear the lyrics for it, I can't help but think that my expectations are set too high for them to make the song any better than it is now.
I almost hope they never release the lyrics. Knowing they're out there, but never hearing them, adds to the mysterious aura of the song.
But that's just me.

Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 5:51 PM by Star Crossed PimpFuck that, CB is too good of a song NOT to have lyrics. SJ has been working on lyrics for it for years, without ever revealing them.
Besides, if he doesn't want to put lyrics on it - Don't put it on the album! That's a waste of space, release the song officially online here, instead of slapping it on an album. We already have it, we already listen to it. We want NEW stuff on the album. Or at least release a b-side album with Barker or something.
It just doesn't seem like a rightful place to put the song...
RE: CARNIVAL BARKER
Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 5:57 PM by NYGREEN3 reasons why CB (instrumental) should not be on Ursa Major
1... if it's going to be an instrumental it should have not even been on the dam album to begin with (especially since we all already have it) what album you may ask? an album that took six years to make. Which only consists of 10 songs, One in Ten does not count as an adequate 3eb song.
2... They could have easily replaced it w/ there " 28 songs they recorded ..shenanigans..yada yada double album.. bull shit" . example. Second Born * a die hard for 3eb fans, SRV, Now I Don't Know. ( you know the good songs that got the kick because of one in ten). whatever the 7 songs they finished for minor where.
3... In no way should an instrumental be a closer to an album. Blue doesn't count because the label didn't allow it. 3eb is now there own label and they could do whatever the hell they want. fourth reason could be we were constantly lied too. but, thats not worth a fourth reason. because you can't honestly expect to trust anything that comes out of SJ mouth
yes. i am irate. and no, i am a fan. i waited six years to hear an instrumental i already have ... to close an album i waited patiently for. this is complete bullshit.. shame on this dam band. i hope karma leaks this months in advance

Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 7:35 PM by BigRedI can't agree more about Carnival Barker. The lies are what gets me, we were told many times it would have lyrics.
Like I've said before - Why not give the people a code in the CD where they can take online, enter the code, and download Carnival Barker with lyrics? This would give the band the next few weeks to work on it. Set a date to be finished with it and where ever you are at that point, let it go... Or simply sell it on iTunes as a single??

Wed, Jul 1, 2009 at 9:32 AM by VaselineI refuse to judge anything before I listen to it.
I said this in another thread, but I think it's relevant here. Was it ever said that the instrumental would NOT be on the album? Maybe we get both - the instrumental AND the version with lyrics as a bonus track or something. Though, if that's the case, I don't really see the point of it.

RE: CARNIVAL BARKER
Wed, Jul 1, 2009 at 10:30 AM by PatrickWell think about this. We were originally promised about 10 or 11 tracks on Major and the instrumental is the 12th track.. maybe 3eb just threw it on there because they could and maybe they just wanted it to be on an album regardless of how many people may already have it downloaded on their computer. Maybe CB with lyrics is supposed to be on Minor (even though I definitely think it should be on Major) It's the band's choice. Like many people have said it's their music they do want they want even though a lot of you fans say you've waited six years for this and it's still not here. Get over it. CB with lyrics will for sure come, just be patient.

Wed, Jul 1, 2009 at 11:12 AM by A ShivMephy--which are you looking for? Because, CB w/ lyrics has never been heard, but the instrumental can find its way to you.

Wed, Jul 1, 2009 at 11:19 AM by MephistophelesFor some reason I thought the lyrics version had popped up on tour, somewhere...
I look forward to experiencing this and, evidently, losing my mind.
RE: CARNIVAL BARKER
Wed, Jul 1, 2009 at 11:56 AM by VaselineI hope this is what will happen. It will be a big "haha" and a middle finger to all the haters.
RE: CARNIVAL BARKER
Wed, Jul 1, 2009 at 1:03 PM by CaPtaINs_oF_Em0yeah, no one is hating on the song. they are hating on the "run-around". the, "oh we have this great song you have to hear....and its on our new album....and now we decided to take the lyrics out, knowingly pissing off people who look forward to this stuff...and with no response about why and what is really going to be on the record"
it is not about hating, it is about being real.. Jenkins likes to talk about that and being punk rock so much, but it is just talk obviously.
but go ahead and give your middle finger, it will do a lot.

Wed, Jul 1, 2009 at 1:12 PM by zsmith28I've been dying to hear SJ vocal on this track for YEARS. This topic made me queue it up and I'm listened to it again now, just imagining what SJ would do on it.

RE: CARNIVAL BARKER
Wed, Jul 1, 2009 at 1:23 PM by Kaylayeah, i'm a little on the fence about this instrumental CB... i could be mistaken, although i don't think i am, but carnival barker was named that for the way stephan sang the song, correct? they said it sounded like a carnival barker, so it was named as that. that being said, there are most definitely versions with lyrics that exist. they would be stupid not to release it somewhere, whether it's by leak on the internet, hidden track, on minor, etc. it's also just a little upsetting because most of us have had the instrumental CB for YEARS.
i did a little digging because i remembered something from tony about it when they put it on their myspace in '06:
"Friends and 3eb family,
In my never ending quest to bring you as much unreleased music and possible- here is a track entitled "Carnival Barker" It also was recorded during the OOTV SESSIONS. It's title is SJ-cuz lyrics were begun but not finished. Arion wrote the little bass breakdown part, but the rest of the song is written by me. Personally, I like the guitar parts and sounds, and is very much for the 3eb "musician fan" .... there are more to come.
Much love
Tony"

Wed, Jul 1, 2009 at 1:24 PM by DankesHow about we just wait and see what happens? I doubt what me or anybody else has to say is going to have any impact on this song. SJ's a legend. He can do what he wants. That's just how he rolls.
