    Third Eye Blind Word Meanings

    Sun, Feb 7, 2010 at 10:23 PM

I remember seeing this back a few years ago, but does anyone know the website that had a list of a bunch of words the band has used in songs (i.e. bacchanalian, persephone) and their meanings? It was a big list and it was pretty cool, so if anyone knows it I'd appreciate hearing where it is. Thanks

Most of those are really, really obvious if you've made it through middle school. I mean, "Ape", seriously? They needed that defined?

Cameo, camouflage, calamity, dragonflies, Freud, martyr, mood ring, packing foam...I could go on for a while, and I skipped plenty.

But I suppose they needed a bunch of filler if they were going to put in some of the more obscure or unexplained ones, because they alone couldn't fill a page like that.

It was a real place in Russia. The real name of it is actually Mamontov's Private Opera. I remember SJ saying he saw it on tv and it inspired him to write the song. He just misspelled it on accident and kept it that way.

well I always took 1000 Julys for H O T. When you come you're really hot. As in sexy.

persephone is the daughter of demeter in greek mythology. great myth.

A red star is actually a dying star on it's way out. a star's life proceeds spectrally as blue, white, yellow, red, brown then dead - I think. It's been a while since I took astronomy. I was high most of the time anyway.

tourniquet as in statement? or as in que'st que c'est?

it's when you tie a bandage/rope around an extremity to stop blood flow - usually resulting in the loss of the extremity but saving your life by stopping you from bleeding out.

Bacchus is the greek god of wine, and Bacchanalia is to get shitty drunk in lamens terms. I looked it up in websters years ago and can't remember the definition. I just remember drunken revelry

aaaactually - Dionysus is the GREEK god of wine, grapes and revelry. Bacchus is the ROMAN equivalent who came later as greek mythology came first then the Romans borrowed from it ;)

can't wait for summer and the Bacchanalians to get here!
